What Is Collaborative Law and How Can It Help?
Collaborative law offers our divorce clients a way to obtain their goals and address their concerns while allowing them to avoid the costs and emotional damage to themselves and children that can come from a traditional divorce.

Participating Collaboratively in the Decision-Making
Collaborative divorce is very much a participatory process, calling on each spouse to have an attorney with all four parties signing an agreement to collaborate and cooperate and compromise their way to a divorce settlement, rather than litigate.
Incentives to Agree: Save Time and Money
The agreement has built in incentive: if agreement cannot be reached, then the entire process must start over again in court in traditional divorce proceedings, but the collaborative law attorneys may not represent you in that divorce.
Collaborative Divorce Works
In Minnesota, where collaborative law originated, statistics have shown that collaborative divorce clients rarely return to court for modifications. At our Griffith law firm, our founder has considerable experience fostering solutions for divorce clients and others involved in important family law matters that can affect the futures of involved children.
Specially Trained in Collaborative Divorce
Our founder, attorney Lynn M. Slegel, has been trained in collaborative law and is one of a handful of collaborative lawyers in northwest Indiana. When you retain our law firm, you are gaining the benefit of a skilled lawyer who is also a member of the International Association of Collaborative Lawyers and who is actively involved in legal circles relating to child custody and parenting time matters.
