Your Child's Best Interest

As our culture evolves, so, too, does the law around what a judge will and will not allow with regard to paternity and child custody. Until July of 2009, there was no possibility for joint legal custody in paternity matters. Now the courts can award joint legal custody. Our lawyer, Lynn M. Slegel, has been instrumentally involved in reorienting Lake County in a more cooperative approach to more closely reflect the best interest of the child.

For instance, we now know that for infants, more frequent visits of shorter duration foster bonds far more effectively than every other weekend visits. The Lake Country guidelines have now been adopted by the all family law courts in Indiana.

Working for the Good of Your Family and Its Stable Future

Family law attorney Lynn M. Slegel has represented men and women on both sides of the paternity issue. Our law firm's goal is to foster wholeness, not strife, as we strive to come to a solution that works for you, your child and your family as a whole. We want to see you be able to co-parent as effectively as possible for the remainder of your child's juvenile years.
